Walking Stick - One-of-a-kind artistically finished 50” Vine Twisted Oak walking or hiking stick with an elk tine handle. We all need something to lean on so why not lean on one of my schticks!
Each Big Weiner Twisted Walking Schtick (BWTWS) is unique and takes from 20 to 40 hours to make. The sticks are found in hardwood forests in the mid-Atlantic and mid-west regions. The natural spirals in the wood are caused by honeysuckle vines that grow in a spiral around a sapling.The saplings’ response is to grow around the strangling vine resulting in deep spiral groves in the wood. Fresh cut sticks are seasoned for a year, cut to size, steamed to kill pests, peeled of bark, sanded to a silky finish, and sealed with 3 coats of tung oil. The handles are made from whitetail deer antlers or elk tines and are sanded and polished to achieve a glass-like finish. The antler handles and decorative wood spacers are securely attached to my schticks with a 5” steel rod and epoxy. A genuine BWTWS can be identified by 3 embedded red resin dots on the schtick and antler. The versatile BWTWS can be used as art for that empty corner in your cabin, a low-tech defensive against unruly critters, picking up clothes off the floor, and of course for walking. All schticks are made in St. Petersburg, FL USA by me, a marginally talented schtick maker.
