Description
This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Lewis T. Larson Wing patent, dated February 26, 1878. This wire is called "Wing's Four Point Barb on Single Un-Twisted Square Line" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 174-B). This wire features a single line wire, which is square in cross-section, and not twisted. Barbs are four pointed made from two staple shaped barbing wires. One staple is long pointed, and the other has short points. Short pointed staple is set atop the line wire, points up. Long pointed staple is placed under and straddling the line wire. Points of the long staple are bent over the short staple, and back towards bottom of line, Barbs are alternatingly positioned, with a quarter turn. This sample is 18" in length and has three barbs,. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Wire shows age wear, with moderate pitting. There are no bent, broken or repaired barbs. Wire is in good used condition. There are no off odors. I have listed other wires, both as auction and fixed price listings. We will gladly combine multiple purchases for shipping, when paid on the same invoice ... using the buy it now option.
